PMGKAY to be Scrapped: Helping the Poor No Longer a Priority?
As per an internal note of the finance ministry’s Department of Economic Affairs, the government is planning to discontinue the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) after September. This move could have devastating impacts on millions of people who have been heavily dependent on this scheme for sustenance since it was first introduced in April-May 2020.
