‘No Fish, Only Plastic in the Sea’ Say Puducherry Fisherfolk
The fisherfolk of the Puducherry district are facing an unprecedented situation: there are no fish in the sea along the coast. Moreover, they ask: ‘why should we pay road tax on diesel when we don’t drive our boats on the road?’. The NewsClick team met the debt-ridden fisherfolk of Pudukuppam village, Bahour taluk in the Puducherry district to understand their woes.
