‘Attack on Media Freedom’: Journalists Protest Data Protection Act
Journalist organisations held an open meeting at the Press Club of India recently against the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act. The organisations warned that this law was a “direct attack on media freedom.”
Sections like hefty fines ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 500 crore can pose a serious threat to journalism, they said. The meeting was jointly called by the Press Club of India, Indian Women's Press Corp, Editors Guild of India, Delhi Union of Journalists and DIGIPUB. Watch NewsClick's report.
