Sexual Harassment at big tech Companies, Impaired ICCs
The Union of IT & ITES Employees (UNITE) has accused the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) management of tacitly supporting the accused in a 2018 sexual harassment case. UNITE general secretary Alagunambi Welkin tells Newsclick that the role of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) at big tech companies is tokenistic and flawed and these committees are not sufficiently empowered to deal with the normalised gender-based discrimination, rampant sexual harassment and issues in power hierarchy in the IT sector.
