Repeated Misuse of Section 92 in J&K - A Brief History
A political drama began unfolding in the valley on 22nd November, when Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik dissolved the assembly after rivals staked claims to power. Jammu and Kashmir has a long history of Governor’s rule. While the suspension of the state governor’s rule in any Indian state results in President rule, in Jammu and Kashmir, the case is different. Here, the failure of state governance results in governor’s rule, invoking section 92 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir.
