Delhi: Protest Against Bail for ex-BJP MLA in Unnao Rape Case
There is outrage over the Delhi High Court’s suspension of sentence given to former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who was convicted in the Unnao gang rape case of Uttar Pradesh, and has also been granted bail.
Several women's organisations, including the All-India Democratic Women's Association, protested outside the Delhi High Court against the verdict. They demanded that Sengar's bail be revoked and his life sentence upheld.
During the protest, women raised serious questions about political patronage in this case, the continuous attacks on the victim and her family, and the role of the justice system.
